Abstract

The objective of this study is to investigate Harvey Norman’s strategic responses to competition, corporate governance framework, and financial and environmental performance to help shareholders and potential investors make decisions. Harvey Norman’s financial performance between 2014 and 2013 is compared using profitability ratios, efficiency ratios, and investment ratios. Additionally, the Green House Gas Reporting Index was utilized in 2014 and 2013 to evaluate environmental performance. However, the study’s findings indicate that Harvey Norman’s financial performance in 2014 was quite satisfactory. While climate change disclosures have improved in 2014 compared to 2013, environmental disclosure analysis still shows subpar performance. In order to increase environmental performance, the corporation should disclose its greenhouse gas emissions.
