Abstract

This study describes the realm of alternative assessment practices within the context of higher education, offering insights into their efficacy, implications, and potential for enhancing student learning outcomes. Traditional assessment methods often fall short in capturing the multifaceted nature of student abilities and knowledge acquisition. In response, alternative assessment practices have emerged as promising avenues for promoting deeper engagement, critical thinking, and skill development among students. By offering a more authentic representation of students' capabilities, these methods contribute to a more holistic evaluation process that aligns with the goals of modern education. However, the study also acknowledges the challenges inherent in implementing alternative assessment practices, including issues related to standardization, scalability, and faculty readiness. Addressing these challenges requires concerted efforts from educators, administrators, and policymakers to provide necessary support, resources, and professional development opportunities. Moreover, this study highlights the transformative potential of alternative assessment practices in reshaping pedagogical approaches and institutional practices within higher education.
