Abstract

Rise and growth of education also help to maintain gender equality in our society. Educated women also participate in political, social, economic and other work which also increases the gender equality. Traditional education system was running in pre-British period which also effected to gender equality. The percentage of educated women was very low in pre-British period. But education system also changed by British rule. Patriarchal set up in the Indian society contributed to the fundamental inequality between male and female. The literacy rate of men and women in India is known issues of disparity. Various types of challenges are the causes of gender inequality, lack of progress of education, discrimination – bias in education system, social norms and cultural practices, food insecurity, work place discrimination, lack of economic opportunity also affected to the gender equality. So, those challenges are the barriers of gender equality. We need to create awareness among Indian women about their legal rights. There are various organisations that work towards creating awareness about women's rights and equality. We need to support such organisation working to provide women with equal opportunities and make the gender equality among the India. Gender equality makes to the strong society. Right to education, therefore it's held a very important to foundation to good citizenship. When women's are educated, the countries became stronger and more prosperous.
