Abstract

This research paper delves into the exploration of women's empowerment and representation in Sri Aurobindo's epic poem, 'Savitri.' While traditional literary analyses often overlook the role of women in spiritual and philosophical works, this study aims to uncover the nuanced and empowering depictions of female characters within the context of Aurobindo's mystical narrative. The research employs a multidimensional approach, combining feminist literary theory, psychoanalytic perspectives, and spiritual philosophy to unravel the layers of significance attributed to women in 'Savitri.' Through a close examination of key female characters such as Savitri herself, as well as secondary figures, the paper seeks to illuminate the ways in which Aurobindo challenges and transcends conventional gender roles and expectations.
