Abstract

Mass media is a source of information that reaches a large audience through different media technologies, be it print media (newspapers and magazines), radio, cinema, television and other social platforms like facebook, instagram etc. It has been observed that gender stereotyping is very much prevalent in all these forms of media. If we study the contents of these media carefully we can conclude by stating that media too is patriarchal in structure and contents. Both men and women are portrayed in the traditional way which makes the stereotyping more prominent. However, it’s time to change the perceptions and media has a great role to play on this issue.
