DOWRY SYSTEM IN INDIA: CAUSES AND REMEDIES

Abstract

Marriage is considered to be a crucial part of our society, a source of pleasure and festivities in addition to a new beginning. Yet one of the longest standing evils related to marriage from a girl’s factor of view inside the Indian society is the dowry device. Dowry death is one of the maximum hideous or ugly burning issues in India. However, there had been Laws and Acts which have been enacted and integrated through the legal machine of the state, additionally there are campaigns initiated by the Government and the NGOs towards the Dowry deaths and Dowry system in India, but inspite of the presence of such initiatives the records on dowry-associated deaths has best increased in the country. This menace is however the root causes of almost all violence against a married woman. The current paper is an attempt to investigate dowry law in general and try to provide with some possible solution in order to fight with the menace.
