THE POSITIVE INFLUENCE OF DIGITAL LOCKER IN INDIA

Abstract

DigiLocker is Govt. of India’s cloud platform for storage, sharing and verification of documents and certificates. You get documents directly from registered issuers, or upload your own. It is aimed at eliminating the use of physical documents and enables sharing of verified electronic documents across government agencies and is part of the government's Digital India initiative. There is also an associated facility for e-signing documents. The services is intended to minimize the use of physical documents, reduce administrative expenses, provide authenticity of the e-documents, and provide secure access to government-issued documents and to make it easy for the residents to receive services. The paper is based on both primary and secondary data and data is procured from published sources as well as structured questionnaire. These research papers know the benefits and the components along with the impact that could be faced by the citizens of India while accessing this facility. This research paper focuses problems and prospectuses on how to securely manage our e-Documents in an electronic form. Digital Locker will touch every Citizen life by bringing in lot of convenience and therefore fulfilling the government vision of citizen centric governance model of providing services at the door step of citizens. The digital document is a legally valid document under the Indian IT Act 2000.
