Abstract

Learning styles refer to the different ways in which students prefer to learn and can effectively receive, understand, internalize, handle, retain and transform information. There are different styles of learning among the individuals. They are verbal, kinesthetic, auditory, visual, logical, interpersonal and intrapersonal. The evolving generations from the silent generation to the boomers, generation X, Y, Z and alpha show different traits in their likes and dislikes and consequently different styles in their learning preferences. The present article discusses the different learning styles and how pedagogical practices should be designed according to the learning preferences of students. It also suggests some pedagogical practices that might efficaciously address the learning styles of Generation Z and Generation Alpha and the instrumental role of the teachers in this regard.
