Abstract

The strengthening and reshaping of the teacher education system is considered as the most influential weapon for the upliftment of the educational standards of a nation. Teaching requires persistent effort, patience, good leadership skills and appropriate teaching practices. In the present scenario, obsolete ideas regarding traditional teaching practices do not work well. There is an urgent requirement for the implementation of innovative teaching strategies in this sector. Education without innovative strategy is just like a ship without a rudder. No further progress is possible without innovative techniques. Innovations in teacher education include proficiency in ICT, interactive discussions, etc. It acts as a powerful tool in bringing about changes in the education system. Teachers must undergo incessant re-evaluation of choices which can be attained by implementing innovative strategies in teacher education such as blended learning, reflective teaching, brainstorming, constructivism, use of ICT, etc. However, it has undergone various challenges while implementing these innovative strategies in the classroom. The paper delves deep into providing insight regarding the requirement of innovative teaching practices, resisting factors as well as suggestions for the smooth implementation of these practices in the teacher education sector.
