Abstract

In the digital realm, communication via the Internet traverses unsecured channels, often with a disregard for the crucial role of passwords. Passwords are fundamental to preventing security breaches, as they facilitate user identification and authentication, crucial for overcoming security vulnerabilities. Despite the emergence of sophisticated security alternatives, password-based systems remain the prevailing method of user authentication in digital processes. Frequently, users fail to grasp the significance of passwords as guardians of their sensitive and non-sensitive information. Poor password management at the user level can expose information to hackers or attackers. This study aims to assess awareness regarding weak and strong passwords, password construction habits, and user password composition and security practices. Ultimately, recommendations are provided for educating users on creating and maintaining secure passwords
