Today's youth is lacking behind in terms of value-based education. Every literate person cannot be called as educated. People can't understand the difference between literacy and education. Value based education is the real need. Now a days we can see that how the society is diminishing in case of value. Mahatma Gandhi explaining the concept of education." The real difficulty is that people have no idea of what education is truly is". Today we access the value of education in same manner as we access the value of goods, value of land, or of the stock-exchange market. We only want to provide such educations to children how to earn more and more. We hardly give any thought to the improvement of the character of educated. An attempt is made in this paper to discuss the role of the value-based education in today's youth. It highlights the need of value-based education. There is a popular conception that values are "better caught than taught". But in reality, values are both caught and taught. "Today's generation is not going to catch the values without teaching. Always specially parents are blamed that they didn't taught values to their children is it correct? Value based education is not restricted to parents to school level if student is lacking in values these values must be taught in higher institutions also.In conclusion, mere desire or aspiration to progress or to become successful is not enough; success should be based on values that value-based education must be imparted in today's institutions. So that the students should become good leaders in their life or in their working progression.Published
