Abstract

In common parlance sustainable development is about using the available resources in such a manner that the resources do not get depleted for the future generations. It is about developing your own without hampering the prospects of development of the future. Sustainability is therefore a challenging task for the human society. This is because most of the times people tend not to worry about the future of the community. The selfish human mind is concerned only about the development of ‘their own’ people. People forget that the future can be bleak due to the unavailability of certain resources which are necessary for a basic living. It is even more challenging for the authorities in every country to enhance the scope of sustainability for the future. Every country has to distribute its limited resources not only amongst the people of the country but also with those who migrate and come to the country for different reasons. It is here that the two, ‘Sustainable Development’ and Migration come together. This paper contributes to an understanding about how migration relates to the paradigm of sustainable development.
