Abstract

This chapter explains the branch of chemistry which influences waste management. It also discusses the chemical aspects of waste disposal and the function of chemicals in waste management. The chapter discusses WM concepts and green chemistry as a waste-reduction method. The green chemistry principles are established, and wastes are defined with focus on how they will help control waste. The chapter also discusses teaching waste management in chemistry via practical inclusion, laboratory activities, and cross-curricular green chemistry. Technological and digital learning tools in waste management education and how to evaluate student performance are being studied. Thus, the chapter underlines the necessity to link chemistry education with waste management activities and integrate actions to solve this critical environmental issue.
