IMPORTANCE OF ENVIRONMENT EDUCATION IN EDUCATION SYSTEM

Abstract

Environmental education plays a crucial role in helping people understand the importance of renewable energy. Non-renewable energy sources such as petrol and diesel are major contributors to global pollution. Promoting the use of renewable energy sources like solar and wind power is essential in combating global warming. Governments and organizations around the world are implementing various projects to enhance environmental education. In India, the government has launched the Environmental Education, Awareness, and Training Program to spread ecological education in both remote and developed areas of the country. The National Environmental Education Act of 1990 mandates the provision of national leadership to improve environmental literacy. This act also established the Office of Environmental Education to oversee its implementation. Additionally, the CPR Environmental Education Centre was created by India's Ministry of Environment to foster greater environmental awareness.
