Abstract

Research ethics in biomedical science ensures responsible and integrity-driven research. Its core focus is protecting the rights, safety, and dignity of human participants while fostering scientific progress. Key principles include informed consent, confidentiality, beneficence, justice, and respect for persons, ensuring participant awareness, data protection, and prioritizing well-being. Recent advancements in genomics, artificial intelligence, and personalized medicine bring new ethical challenges like data privacy, the use of human tissue and genetic material, and corporate funding influences. Addressing these requires robust ethical oversight, thorough consent processes, and transparent participant communication. The significance of research ethics is immense: breaches can harm participants, erode public trust, and damage scientific credibility. Thus, cultivating an ethical culture within research institutions is vital. Ensuring researchers adhere to ethical guidelines maintains public confidence and responsible scientific inquiry. Trends such as open science and data sharing enhance transparency and collaboration but also introduce new ethical risks. Continuous assessment and adaptation of ethical standards are essential to balance innovation with ethical responsibility in biomedical science.
