The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 emphasizes teachers and faculty as central to the learning process, highlighting the need for high-quality content and pedagogy training. Teachers will be required to have a multidisciplinary Bachelor's Degree or a Master’s degree in a specialized stream. Additionally, shorter local teacher education programs will be available at BITEs, DIETs, and school complexes, aligning with the policy's vision of holistic education. A new National Curriculum Framework for Teacher Education (NCFTE) 2021 will be developed through consultations with State Governments, relevant Ministries/Departments, and expert bodies, and will be available in regional languages. The NCFTE 2021 will address teacher education curricula for vocational education. Continuous professional development (CPD) opportunities will be provided, including local, regional, State, National, and international workshops, as well as online modules. Teachers are expected to participate in at least 50 hours of CPD annually, focusing on the latest pedagogies, foundational literacy, numeracy, and adaptive assessment techniques.Published
