Abstract

Sustainable rural development in Bangladesh necessitates interdisciplinary approaches that integrate social, economic, and environmental dimensions. This abstract explores key strategies and challenges in achieving sustainability in Bangladesh's rural areas, emphasizing the need for collaborative efforts across disciplines. Socially, community engagement and empowerment are crucial, ensuring that development initiatives address local needs and priorities (Afsar, 2015). Economic sustainability involves promoting viable livelihood options through microfinance (Khandker, 2012) and promoting entrepreneurship (Rahman et al., 2019). Environmental sustainability demands resource-efficient practices, including water management and agricultural techniques that mitigate climate risks (Hossain et al., 2020). However, achieving sustainable rural development requires overcoming various challenges. These include limited access to resources and technology, inadequate infrastructure, and socio-cultural barriers (Rahman et al., 2018). Interdisciplinary collaboration can address these challenges by fostering innovation and holistic problem-solving approaches (Miah et al., 2021). Drawing on case studies and empirical evidence, this abstract underscore the importance of policy coherence and stakeholder engagement in implementing sustainable rural development initiatives in Bangladesh. By integrating perspectives from sociology, economics, and environmental science, this interdisciplinary approach seeks to create resilient communities capable of navigating complex socio-economic and environmental challenges.
