Abstract

Action research in schools is a collaborative and reflective approach to improve teaching, learning, and school practices. It involves teachers, administrators, and stakeholders working together to identify and address real-world problems, such as student engagement, academic achievement, and classroom management. Through a cyclical process of planning, action, observation, and reflection, participants develop practical solutions and implement changes to improve student outcomes and school culture. Action research in schools fosters a culture of inquiry, collaboration, and continuous learning, empowering educators to take ownership of their professional development and bring about positive change. By addressing specific school contexts and needs, action research leads to context-specific solutions, improving teaching practices, student learning, and effectiveness of school communities. Its focus on practical problem-solving and collaborative learning makes action research an effective tool for school increasing school performance and initiating educational reform. This chapter tries to explore about Action Research and to understand the differences between Action Research and Conventional Research. Also, it aims to explore the procedure, probable study areas and problems of Action Research. The researcher has found that Action Research is very helpful for overall improvement of school system.
