Assessment and evaluation are pivotal in shaping effective educational practices, enhancing student learning outcomes, and fostering continuous improvement in instructional methods. This paper explores contemporary assessment and evaluation techniques in education, examining both formative and summative approaches. Formative assessment, characterized by ongoing feedback and iterative improvement, is essential for identifying student needs, guiding instruction, and promoting student engagement. Summative assessment, which evaluates student learning at the end of instructional periods, provides critical data for measuring educational effectiveness and accountability. Innovative assessment techniques, such as peer assessment, self-assessment, and digital assessments, are highlighted for their potential to empower students and personalize learning experiences. The integration of technology in assessment practices, including the use of learning management systems (LMS), e-portfolios, and data analytics, offers new avenues for real-time feedback and differentiated instruction. The importance of culturally responsive assessment practices, ensuring that diverse student populations are assessed fairly and equitably. Evaluation techniques are scrutinized for their role in providing comprehensive insights into educational processes and outcomes is also addressed.
