Abstract

STEM education is considered vital for the 21st century students so as to enable them to participate in the global economy and it has emerged as a driving force behind numerous educational initiatives. However, STEM has recently been emerged as STEAM as an innovative variant of STEM, where ‘A’ stands for ‘Arts’ and is included for enhancing the experiences in other STEM branches. The fundamental idea of integrating arts into STEM, has its roots firmly planted in Indian thought. Since it is precisely the kind of education that will be needed for the 21st century, the idea of ”knowledge of many arts," or "liberal arts" needs to be restored to Indian education (NEP 2020). Integrating the humanities and arts with STEM has been shown to improve learning outcomes such as creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving, teamwork, communication skills, deeper learning, and social and moral awareness. The present study aimed at exploring the potential of visualization tools for bringing effectiveness in STEAM education.
