Ethnographic research, rooted in anthropology, provides a vital lens for understanding educational settings by immersing researchers in the daily lives of students, teachers, and educational communities. This qualitative methodology emphasizes participant observation, in-depth interviews, and the analysis of cultural artifacts to uncover the intricate ways educational practices and policies impact diverse groups. Ethnographic studies reveal how cultural norms, social relationships, and institutional norms shape educational experiences and outcomes. By offering rich, contextual insights often missed by quantitative methods, ethnography informs the development of culturally responsive teaching strategies and policy interventions. It also highlights implicit power structures and social hierarchies within educational environments, contributing to a more equitable and effective educational practice. Through its detailed, long-term engagement with participants, ethnographic research fosters a deeper understanding of educational phenomena, enhancing the relevance and impact of educational theories and practices. As such, ethnographic research is essential for educators, policymakers, and researchers aiming to improve educational systems and address disparities within them.Metrics
