Abstract

In the digital era gamification in education is very much in vogue. Educationists worldwide are using game mechanics in the field of education to achieve learning goals. Games have been an intrinsic aspect of human social life since the dawn of civilization, and learning as a result of that has been more incidental. With the progress in the field of psychology, games and their influence on shaping behaviour have been understood and explored. Froebel’s kindergarten or play school incorporate the game mechanics to make learning enjoyable. Chess, mahjong and pasha of ancient India not only have entertainment value but also teach the players concentration, perseverance, patience, tactics of warfare and life. In the digital era gaming has taken a new dimension and its usage in a nongame environment is going a long way in achieving the goals of a project.
