This paper explores the potential for rural entrepreneurship within India's burgeoning biofuel sector, focusing on the opportunities presented by the country's biofuel policy framework. Through a comprehensive examination of governmental policies, industry initiatives, and socio-economic dynamics, the study sheds light on how biofuel production can serve as a catalyst for rural development and economic empowerment. Drawing on insights from various scholarly works and government documents, the paper highlights the pivotal role of biofuels in India's energy security strategy and its broader socio-economic objectives. It underscores the significance of biofuel initiatives in creating employment opportunities, fostering rural livelihoods, and addressing environmental challenges. The research delves into the nuances of India's biofuel policy landscape, emphasizing the government's commitment to promoting indigenous biofuel production, reducing dependency on fossil fuels, and mitigating environmental pollution. Special attention is given to the recent amendments to the National Policy on Biofuels, which set ambitious targets for ethanol and biodiesel blending, while also encouraging domestic production and innovation. Furthermore, the paper examines the challenges faced by biofuel producers, particularly regarding feedstock availability, production infrastructure, inter-state transportation, and market penetration. It identifies key obstacles hindering the widespread adoption of ethanol-blended fuels and proposes strategies to overcome these barriers.Metrics
