IMPACT ASSESSMENT OF PRICE CAPPING REGULATION – A STUDY OF ANTI-NEOPLASTIC DRUGS

Abstract

The present study examines the impact of price regulation on Antineoplastic drugs in the India Pharmaceutical Market. In India, National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) regulates the price of drugs in India. So, to analyze the effect of price control and to determine the impact of price capping on pharmaceutical firms this study has been conducted. The present study is an effort to mainly: i) To determine the impact of price capping on pharmaceutical companies by calculating percent price variation from the ceiling prices; ii) To examine the effect of price control on Indian Pharmaceutical Companies; iii) To study the effect of price control on the revenue of the pharmaceutical companies and thereby determine the loss incurred by each company and iv) To determine the Inter-brand variability between different brands of same formulation.
