Abstract

India, with its rich agricultural heritage, has experienced significant growth in the adoption of organic farming, reflecting a broader shift from traditional towards sustainable agricultural practices. Organic farming in India adheres to global standards, prioritizing soil health, crop diversity, and natural pest control. Farmers emphasize the use of organic inputs such as compost and manure to enhance soil fertility. Despite gaining momentum, organic farming in India encounters challenges, including the need for increased awareness among farmers, limited access to organic inputs, and complexities in the market. This review based study through a bibliometric analysis methodology, covering the period from 1983 to 2023, delves into the research trends in organic farming in India, focusing on key issues and practices within the framework of sustainability. Ultimately, Organic farming contributes to a more resilient and sustainable agricultural landscape in India. Organic farming is not a choice but it is need of the hour.
