Achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) requires an inclusive approach that addresses the intersecting challenges of gender inequality and sustainable development. This study examines the crucial role of gender equality, specifically the empowerment of women, in advancing sustainable development and achieving SDG 5 Gender Equality. It highlights the positive impact of women's involvement in renewable energy projects, sustainable agriculture, water management, and biodiversity conservation. The research emphasizes on the importance of gender-responsive policies in enhancing the effectiveness of climate action, disaster risk reduction, and economic empowerment initiatives. By integrating gender perspectives into sustainability efforts, societies can become more resilient and equitable. Additionally, the study identifies significant barriers that hinder women’s full participation in sustainable development. These barriers include limited access to education and vocational training, restricted decision-making roles, and socio-cultural constraints. The research proposes comprehensive strategies to address these challenges, such as implementing targeted educational programs, establishing supportive legal and institutional frameworks, and designing gender-sensitive policies.Metrics
