Abstract

Dementia is rapidly becoming a major health issue worldwide, particularly in developing countries like India, where the elderly population is growing at an increasing rate. This review explores the prevalence and risk factors for Dementia in India, emphasizing the need for early diagnosis and appropriate care. Here different studies were examined, which point to socio-economic factors, such as low education facility, physical inactivity, and chronic health conditions like diabetes and depression, as key risk factors for mild cognitive impairment and Dementia. This study found that Dementia is more common in rural areas. The review advocates for improved diagnostic tools, public health interventions, and awareness programs, along with longitudinal or long-term research to address the growing burden of Dementia and enhance prevention and care strategies.
