Abstract

Epistemic humility is an important part of wisdom and moral development. Folklores are often the source of the development of these virtues, and they are an integral part of the transition of old wisdom from generations and imparting these life skills in children. This chapter will examine the importance of folklore in “Burhi Aair Xadhu”. Three stories from the collection found in “Burhi Aair Xadhu” have been selected through purposive sampling. It was found that although metacognition, such as epistemic humility, is not often explicitly stated to develop in these stories, sub-themes are evident. Thus, folklore is a source of cultural preservation and an important source of virtue development for a society.
