Abstract

In the pursuit of comprehensive well-being, conventional health literacy often falls short by focusing predominantly on physical health and medical information. This paper introduces a transformative framework—Holistic Health Literacy—rooted in the integration of yogic philosophy and psychological science, offering a more expansive understanding of health as a multidimensional state of balance and awareness. Drawing from Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras and contemporary psychological theories such as self-efficacy and positive psychology, the model emphasizes cognitive clarity, emotional regulation, behavioral discipline, and spiritual insight. Core constructs like the Pancha Koshas, Chitta Vritti Nirodha, and the PERMA model are synthesized to redefine health as a lived experience of harmony across physical, mental, and spiritual domains.
