The punitively-based criminal justice systems have been criticized for their perceived failure to fully meet complex victims' needs and to promote community healing (Karimullah, 2023).Victimology as a science questions the experiences, requirements, and rights of crime victims; restorative justice however offers a radical and alternative re-construct of the offending situation which focuses on repairing the harm that occurred and fosters a reconciliation between all parties with a stake in that offense (McQueen et al., 2023).In a country like India, which is characterized by linguistic, linguistic, and socio-economic diversity and has different levels of access to justice systems, the fusion of victimological understandings with the principles of restorative justice has a great potential to establish a more responsive and just legal regime (Ballard, Kubrin, 2023).Published
