The use of Artificial Intelligence in criminal justice system is a game changer where it provides extraordinary opportunities to usher in system based efficiencies and justice, alongside daunting legal and ethical questions calling for a careful and measured discussion in the background of new Indian criminal laws (Gummadidala et al., 2020). AI's ability to change how many parts of the legal system operate, from police, to courts, to prisons, requires a deep understanding of where, how it can be used and the consequent pros and cons (Situmeang et al., 2024).With the potential of AI in data analysis, pattern identification and prediction modelling, it can help the criminal justice system towards more effective crime prevention, criminal investigation and adjudication (Sharma, 2023).Yet, using AI in this highly sensitive sector also creates critical questions about accountability, transparency, bias, and protecting rights (Hunter et al., 2020).Published
