Abstract

Negligence is not a mistake in judgment or an unfortunate complication in the medical world, it is actually a violation of the standard of care a reasonably prudent health care provider would have rendered in the same or similar circumstances (Floyd, 2008). It is important to grasp the difference between a negligence and a wilful act, it is negligence that it refers to occurs when a doctor fails to exercise reasonable care and skill in diagnosing or treating the patient or has neglected the patients/clients in some way (Norrie, 1987).
