FUTURE OF CRIMINAL LAW IN THE DIGITAL ERA
DOI:

The proliferation of digital payment systems and e-commerce platforms in India has led to a corresponding rise in cyber fraud and financial crimes, posing a significant threat to the country's economic stability (Tripathy, 2025). Phishing scams, identity theft, and online banking fraud have become increasingly prevalent, victimizing individuals and businesses alike (Tushir*, 2020). The anonymous nature of online transactions and the ease with which cybercriminals can operate across geographical boundaries make it challenging to trace and apprehend perpetrators. Cryptocurrency-related scams are also on the rise, exploiting the lack of regulatory clarity and investor awareness in the Indian market.Published
