Abstract

This research paper provides an exhaustive and nuanced analysis of the implications of contract farming (CF) on small and marginal farmers in India. By synthesizing a diverse body of evidence from historical accounts, legal frameworks, and empirical case studies, the report argues that while CF presents a promising model for mitigating market risks, enhancing productivity, and securing market access for smallholders, its on-the-ground implementation is fraught with significant challenges.
