MICROALGAE IN SETTLED TAP WATER SEDIMENT, DHULE

Abstract

Water supplied by Dhule corporation appears clean but contains invisible suspended particles and microalgae. Suspended light particles get settle down slowly when this tap water is stored in reservoirs and big utensils and shows sedimentation in the form of slimy muddy thin film of sediment at bottom. Observation of settled sediment revealed presence of twenty-two algal taxa from city water supply of Dhule during years 2021-2022.
