INFORMATION SUPPORT FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF PARENTS OF DIFFERENTLY-ABLE PERSONS IN WEST MEDINIPUR DISTRICT, WEST BENGAL (INDIA)

Abstract

The parents of differently-able persons are very much unaware about the information needed for their children in particularly West Bengal. These parents are in need of information for the development of their children. In most cases they do not know how and where to get information properly and correctly. Darkness in their knowledge led the differently-able persons to a worst situation and led them far away from leading normal life like other human being instead of living on everyone’s kindness and begging. Modern science and technologies are developing day by day in the field of artificial limbs by the scientists and technicians. History shows that proper information, guidance and training can make them self-sufficient.
In this particular topic, the parents of differently-able persons of West Medinipur, West Bengal are highlighted here, focusing with their comprehensive mental, social, economical status. Likewise the educational standards to disclose their mentality in handling any type of disability by their family member(s) have been tried to point out here. It also denotes to uphold the stretch of their willingness to bring their differently-able children or member out of such disability by providing cordial family support, aids from various fields, as governmental & non-governmental and personal and supports from the various information centres like libraries, local clubs and people’s representatives at their locality with their satisfaction rate. How far these information providing channels like library & information centres and others are being succeeded to pull their mentality upward in this regard, are tried to highlight in this discussion.
