In 2015 the United Nations adopted 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). These goals are required to be attained by 2030. These goals address five significant issues namely People, Prosperity, Peace, Planet and Partnership. The Sustainable Development Goals focus on social, economic as well as environmental dimensions of sustainability. However, in 2020 the world was hit by COVID-19, one of the worst pandemics it has ever witnessed. The pandemic brought the global economy to a deadlock situation. To save the lives of people across the world massive lockdown was imposed in phases in different parts of the world to ensure social distancing. The pandemic has imposed serious threats to the achievement of SDGs 2030. In this paper we review different research papers that study the challenges that COVID-19 has brought to the economies across the world, the impact of COVID-19 on the realization of SDGs with respect to social, economic and environmental dimensions and possible rescue measures to be undertaken to overcome these challenges and achieve SDGs by 2030.
