Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are regarded as the main way-out in improving the standard of living by ensuring huge employment generation and output promotion with nominal input level. But lacuna in technical know-how along with lack of awareness of the participants regarding the safety environment in workstation, would invite occupational hazards in MSMEs. This present study aims in (i) detecting relevant factors under Safe Work Environment are to be maintained in different units of engineering sector as per the perceptions of the respective participants, (ii) measuring the differences in perception of different groups as per socio-demographic features (age, sex, educational qualification etc.) of the participants, and (iii) offering policy recommendations and suggestions to improve safety working environment in this regard. The study has conducted a micro-empirical analysis where West Burdwan, the district of West Bengal has been considered and its well-known flourishing sector i.e., Engineering has been selected purposively for field survey through questionnaire and interview.
