Abstract

Inclusive Education (IE) is a new approach towards educating children with disability and learning difficulties with normal ones within the same roof. It brings all students together in one classroom and community, regardless of their strengths or weaknesses in any area, and seeks to maximize the potential of all students. It is one of the most effective ways to promote an inclusive and tolerant society. Inclusive education is a strategy of making education universalized irrespective of any disability, marginalization, class, caste etc., within the learner and to maintain equity in the society. It accentuates that children from primary levels can be included in holistic platform without any kind of isolation. This study is an attempt to put focus on issues, challenges, and prospects regarding implementation of inclusive classroom setting at primary level in West Bengal.
