Abstract

Graphene has exceptional nonlinear optical (NLO) properties owing to its bandgap tunability and unique electronic band structure. This review focuses on the progress of nonlinear optical properties of graphene composites with metal nanoparticles, metal oxide nanoparticles, and conducting organic molecules, thus forming a binary composite. Such binary composites possess a higher surface area that prompts for low recombination and a faster transfer rate of the photogenerated charge carriers. Consequently, the NLO properties of the composites are significantly enhanced compared to their counterparts.
