Abstract

Microstrip patch antennas, known for their compact size, ease of fabrication, and versatility, play a vital role in modern wireless communication systems. A crucial aspect of their performance is the feeding technique, which efficiently transfers power from the feed line to the radiating patch. This chapter delves into various feeding methods employed in microstrip patch antennas, categorized into two primary groups: contacting and non-contacting. The choice of feeding technique significantly impacts the antenna's performance characteristics, including impedance matching, bandwidth, radiation pattern, and polarization. This article provides a foundational understanding of various feeding techniques, paving the way for further exploration of their specific advantages and considerations for different applications. This article also highlights the key features, advantages, and limitations of each feeding technique, enabling researchers and engineers to make informed decisions for their specific microstrip patch antenna designs.
