Abstract

Education is one of the most important inputs that significantly affect the multifaceted development of an individual. School is the first and foremost foundation for the overall development of the student. All-round development of the student is successfully accomplished through the quality education of the school. The quality of a school system's teachers determines that system's overall effectiveness. One of the most important factors for the success of education and schools has been identified as teacher commitment. Hence, the investigation addressed at professional commitment among secondary school teachers. The major objectives of the current study are to investigate secondary school teachers’ professional commitment and comparisons are also addressed between them to identify the effect of secondary school teachers' professional commitment with regard to their gender, locality, marital status, teaching experience, educational qualifications, training status, types of job, caste and stream. In order to know the present status of Professional Commitment of Secondary School Teachers in the Bankura district of West Bengal descriptive survey method was employed. A sample of 220 teachers employed by the district of Bankura's secondary schools was chosen using a simple random sampling technique.
