Since the post-independence era, various acts and policies have been enacted to integrate persons with disabilities (PwDs) into mainstream education. As an example, the Integrated Education of Disabled Children (IEDC) Act of 1974, the Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) Act of 1992, the PwD Act of 1995, the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Act of 2002, the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD),2008, the RPwD Act of 2016, and the NEP 2020. The information for this article was gathered from secondary sources such as publications, books, and documents such as the RPwD Act and NEP. The current article examines the importance of the RPwD Act 2016 and the NEP 2020 in promoting inclusion in terms of equal opportunity, non-discrimination, and active participation in higher education for people with disabilities.Metrics
