Abstract

India is the land of Knowledge, Wisdom and Truth. From time immemorial numerous learners and knowledge seekers have visited India to study in famous universities of Nalanda and Takhshila. Indian society has divided human life into four phases starting with Brahmacharya where the learner resides in Guru Griha and learns basic skills of life. Knowledge is the only word that comes to our mind whether we read religious scriptures or explore various ancient literatures. Indian Knowledge System is the knowledge accumulated in India from ancient times and speaks about its glorified past. The achievements made by Indians in fields of astronomy, astrology, logic, philosophy, mathematics, and economics are one written in golden words. In this article, author explores how NEP 2020 upholds the importance of Indian Knowledge System and reviews how the recommendations can be practically implemented. This paper uses qualitative approach and is based on several policy documents. The significance of this paper is to reiterate the emphasis of NEP 2020 on Indian Knowledge System and why is it the need of the hour.
