Abstract

Teaching, learning and research materials that are either already in the public domain or are protected by copyright and have been published under an open license are referred to as open educational resources, or OER for short. These materials do not require any cost to access and can be re-used, used for adaptation and may be redistributed. Sources of Open Educational Resources in Economics are enlisted in the websites of different educational institutions where Economics is taught. Teachers and students can get links to journals, textbooks, videos and other materials related to Economics that are freely available from these websites. Different Digital Libraries are there which provide access to books, articles and chapters on various branches of Economics. Guidelines for finding and evaluating the Open Educational Resources are also mentioned in the websites of different colleges and universities. In this paper we study the various sources of Open Educational Resources in Economics. Next, we discuss how Open Educational Resources can be used, created and deployed in the field of Economics. We also discuss the opportunities and challenges of using Open Educational Resources in Economics. We conclude our paper by discussing the prospect of Open Educational Resources in Economics.
