OER IN MATHEMATICS: EXPANDING THE HORIZONS

Abstract

Open Educational Resource is the key concept of any teaching learning situation of the modern era. When it comes about Mathematics, OERs have not only made the task of teaching and comprehending easier, it has also opened new avenues to explore. The abstract concepts of Mathematics are now being able to be visualized, instantly, making the teaching learning environment more interactive and interesting. The difficult problems are now being solved and explained by the experts’ forum, at the fingertips of the learner, subject specific books, journals and articles are available on a mouse click. Higher study in Mathematics was never so easy and hassle free, as for now. Here, in this paper, I have visited some of the OERs available, exclusively for Mathematics, Nationally and internationally, studied their utilities and benefits, discussed some of the Indian government’s initiatives in this regard and found some scopes of farther advancement in this field.
