SWAYAM: THE MOST COMPREHENSIVE ONLINE LEARNING PLATFORM IN INDIA

Abstract

Education is crucial to economic progress and takes the form of a constructive education. Knowledge acquisition is no longer restricted to the traditional classroom's four walls because to the advent of information and communication technology (ICT). The government of India has introduced a cutting-edge educational technique dubbed "Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs)" to bring the highest quality learning resources throughout the nation. MOOCs have garnered considerable interest from the educational community. MOOC offers high-quality instruction to a large audience while requiring little time and effort. The Ministry of Human Resource Development is working hard to create SWAYAM, a nationwide online portal for high-quality education. The government began the "Study Webs of Active Learning for Young Aspiring Minds" (SWAYAM) project in an effort to increase access. The SWAYAM platform, one of the major MOOC platforms in India, is providing a lifetime learning opportunity through remote mode. Using ICT based on the edX platform, SWAYAM provides online courses to any learner in the country for free or at a minimal fee. It will support the country's efforts to build its skilled workforce and create jobs. The objective of the paper will be to focus on the rise of SWAYAM beneficial for mass in India.
