AWARENESS AND USE OF OPEN EDUCATIONAL RESOURCE TO SATISFY INFORMATION NEEDS OF FACULTY AND STUDENTS AT KAZI NAZRUL UNIVERSITY ASANSOL: A STUDY

Abstract

Kazi Nazrul University (KNU) is a growing institution of higher learning in West Bengal's Paschim Bardhaman district. By utilising Open Educational Resources (OER), the Central Library plays a crucial role in the University's initiatives in academic research, intellectual development, and creative inquiry. Offer knowledge, services, and resources that will prominently position the library throughout the research, teaching, and learning life cycles. The use of open educational resources (OER) has been growing recently along with the growth of e-learning methodologies. A crucial step in assisting the expansion of OER projects at the institutions is the Central Library. The way faculty and students view OER frequently affects their interest in implementing open educational practises and their willingness to ask librarians for assistance when they need information. Utilising OERs is mostly done to facilitate online learning and make it more user-friendly. The study looked into how well teachers and students use open educational resources (OERs). Knowing how undergraduate and graduate students at Kazi Nazrul University are using and aware of open educational resources (OER). when they are aware of them through library support services and institutional OERs initiatives, regardless of their prior experience with using e-resources to fill information needs. According to the report, it is advised that university faculty and libraries aid in raising awareness so that students can take full advantage of the OERs that are freely available online.
